DEVOTION TO A CAUSE and rebellion from a cause: these are opposite sides of the same coin. Whether we choose to embrace a set of values, or to reject them, proclamations on flesh represent our clear commitment to an idea or a religious framework.

Perhaps we wish to influence others, perhaps we only wish to declare ourselves. We have the power to publish our positions visibly with these political and religious tattoos. They may invite questions or provide answers, but we choose to wear our faith (or our lack thereof) on our sleeves precisely because it defines us.
